Poem ~ 6
The Tumultuous Transformation
By Toolika Rani
Inertia for a long time becomes a habit
How comforting to just keep lying under its embracing quilt!
For the world too it appears normal,
Acceptable.
Quietness, inaction is a soothing state.
Why agitate?
Alas! mere absorption was never the end of affairs.
A stir is felt despite the efforts to keep it calm.
Hidden erstwhile the sun appears,
shockingly,
to make it warm
and nowhere again the calm can be restored!
Here and there, everywhere
on each branch new shoots appear
tearing the bark, discarding the mantle
colours are sprayed on a greyish ensemble;
symbols of life born out of revolution.
They will also darken in times to come
but till then at least it’s the period of revival
of hope, action, and creation.
