Kathua, August 17: Senior Congress leader Satish Sharma on Sunday visited Kathua district to meet and express solidarity with the families affected by the recent cloudburst incident that caused heavy damage in the region.
Sharma interacted with the victims, listened to their grievances, and assured them that their concerns would be raised at the appropriate forums. He urged the administration to expedite relief and rehabilitation measures for the affected households and emphasized the need for long-term preventive steps to minimize the impact of such natural calamities.
Describing the cloudburst as a tragic reminder of the growing vulnerability of hilly areas to extreme weather events, Sharma called for enhanced disaster preparedness, improved infrastructure, and timely compensation to those who have suffered losses.
