Saudi King Salman donates $10 million to WHO to fight Coronavirus

Saudi Arabia’s King Salman on Monday donated $10 million to World Health Organization (WHO) to support its efforts to fight the novel coronavirus.

Dr. Tedros Andhanom Ghebreyesus, director general of WHO said, “the organization greatly appreciates this generous humanitarian gesture from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, which will contribute significantly to efforts to safeguard global health.”

“The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the World Health Organization (WHO) are working together to combat novel coronavirus (COVID-19)”, a joint statement stated.

“In support of this effort, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has provided $10 million to the World Health Organization for the implementation of urgent measures to minimize the spread of the disease and to support countries with vulnerable health infrastructures”, it added.

Meanwhile, Saudi officials on Monday declared that four new cases have been identified, and said that if people who give wrong or incomplete health information at the entry points will face a fine of SR. 500,000 i.e. $133,000. ( The Milli chronicle )
