Shifting of GBS Batamaloo: Traders and transporters stage protest

Srinagar, Aug 26, CNS: The traders and transporters on Saturday held a peaceful protest against the government’s proposal to shift Batamaloo Bus Stand to Parimpora.

   The protest was held under the banner of All Traders Joint Coordination Committee (ATJCC) and was led by its president Muhammad Ashraf.

     Carrying placards and banners, the protesting traders and transporters made a vehement request to Honorable High Court to revert its decision.

   “A large number of people including mechanical workers, labourers and traders are associated with this bus stand, and if it is shifted the move will render them jobless besides near about 5000 shopkeepers will get affected due to it,” Mohammad Ashraf told CNS.

“If government goes ahead with the decision, then the business community will have no option other than to launch stir,” protesters threatened.
