Kulgam, Jan 23 (KNC): Amid heavy snowfall in the district, snow clearance operations are underway at full pace in Kulgam, with authorities deploying men and machinery on a war footing to restore road connectivity.

Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE), Mechanical Engineering Department (MED) Kulgam, Khurshid Abdullah, as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC said that 25 snow clearance machines have been pressed into service to expedite the process.

He said that priority is being given to major arterial roads connecting Kulgam with neighbouring districts, besides important link roads and inner village routes.

“Nearly 70 per cent of the roads across the district have been cleared so far; however, continuous snowfall is posing challenges to the ongoing operations,” Abdullah said.

He added that complete snow clearance is expected by evening if weather conditions remain favourable.

“I am personally monitoring the situation on the ground and ensuring that snow is cleared from all roads across the district at the earliest,” he said. (KNC)
