A 19-year-old Kashmiri youth was found hanging from the ceiling of his rented room in Rajasthan’s capital Jaipur on Saturday, police said.
quoting Baneer Singh, a police officer sub-inspector tasked with investigating the case, reported that the police recovered body of Zahid Ahmad Bhat from his room in Muhana Mandi area of Jaipur.
“The body was hanging from the ceiling and we have taken it to Mahtama Gandhi hospital in the capital for postmortem and other legal medico formalities,” Singh was quoted as saying.
“It seems a case of suicide. We have started inquest proceedings under section 174 Cr.Pc,” he said.
Adil Ishaq Bhat, a cousin of the deceased 12th standard student, said they were informed by the police about the incident on Saturday morning.
“My uncle along with some other family members has left for Jaipur from Srinagar International airport to receive the body”, he said, adding, “The entire family is in a state of shock and as far as I know him he cannot take such a step.”
The deceased, originally a resident of Hanger village of Yaripora in Kulgam district, was adopted by his uncle who resides in Chakoo area of Harmain Shopian.
The report said that Bhat had left for Jaipur ten days ago with a truckload of apples.
