SPO Injured After Police Team Attacked During Anti-Smuggling Operation in Miran Sahib

Jammu, Apr 9 A Special Police Officer (SPO) was injured after a police team was attacked during an operation against alleged bovine smuggling in the Miran Sahib area on Thursday evening.

Official sources told news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC that some persons were attempting to smuggle bovine animals in a truck bearing registration number JK02AU-9918 near Dak Bungalow Maralian in Miran Sahib.

Acting swiftly, a team from Police Station Miran Sahib rushed to the spot to intercept the vehicle. However, as the police approached, a large number of people gathered at the scene and allegedly attacked the police party with stones and sticks.

During the incident, an SPO identified as DVR Garu Choudhary sustained injuries and was immediately shifted to a hospital for treatment.

Police officials said that in order to control the situation and in self-defence, aerial firing was resorted to, following which the situation was brought under control.

Further legal action in the matter has been initiated, and investigation is underway. (KNC)
