Professor Talat Ahmad (born 1957) is a distinguished geologist, academic administrator, and institution builder whose career embodies a rare combination of scientific brilliance and visionary leadership. A proud alumnus of Aligarh Muslim University, he completed his M.Sc. in Geology (1977) from AMU, followed by a Ph.D. from Jawaharlal Nehru University (1985) and advanced postdoctoral research in the United Kingdom and Germany.

• Transformative Vice Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia (2014–2018) and the University of Kashmir (2011–2014, 2018–2022), where he led far-reaching academic and institutional reforms.

• Accomplished Earth Scientist, having served at the Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology, University of Delhi, and JNU, and contributed over 65 impactful research papers in petrology and geochemistry.
