The Department of Rural Development is a golden egg-laying hen whose eggs are easily accessible to some and beyond the reach of others.
People in almost every corner of Jammu and Kashmir are dissatisfied with this department but now even the Panchayat representatives who are considered as the nose hair of this department have become dissatisfied with this department.According to reports, during the ongoing Jan Abhiyan and Block Divas program in Kishtwar district’s Bunjwah tehsil, a sarpanch, in the presence of BDO, affixed the label of extortion on all the employees of the said department. The blaze echoed through the audience.
Sarpanch Muhammad Ali acknowledged the irregularities and frauds taking place in the rural development department in a packed meeting when all the tehsil level officials, including Tehsildar Bunjwah, were present.
Accusing the department, the sarpanch said that the officials of the department do not do any work without extortion of which they are eyewitnesses.
Speaking to media Shafqat Sheikh, a well-known Social Activist and Journalist from Chenab Valley, said that the revelations made by the said sarpanch were very sensational and asked the administration to investigate the matter without any delay.
In this regard, an attempt was made to contact BDO Drabshalla and Bonjwah Sobia Shad, but she rejected the calls made several times in a row.
