Three drug peddlers held in Kashmir: Police

Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 03 drug peddlers in Kulgam, Handwara & Baramulla and recovered contraband substance from their possession. 

In Kulgam, a police party headed by SHO Police station Behibagh at a checkpoint established at Alamgunj crossing, intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully. During search, officers were able to recover 11Kgs of Poppy Straw like contraband substance concealed in a nylon bag from his possession. He has been identified as Arshid Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Gani Bhat resident of Machewa. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

In Handwara, a police party of Police Station Qalamabad at a checkpoint established at Batagund crossing intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully. During search, 50gms of Charas like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Aquib Nazir Bhat son of Nazir Ahmad Bhat resident of Kargam Handwara. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

In Baramulla, a police party under the supervision of SDPO Kreeri Shri Khalid Ashraf-JKPS, assisted by SHO PS Chandoosa arrested a drug smuggler during naka checking at Daru Chandoosa. During search, 400grams of charas like contraband substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Bilal Ahmad Rather son of Gh Mohiuddin Rather resident of Bandi Payeen Chandoosa. He has been shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

Regarding the incidents, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.
