Director of the Meteorological Centre Srinagar, Mukhtar Ahmad, said weather conditions are expected to remain largely hot and dry from June 8 to June 10. However, he noted that brief afternoon showers at isolated places cannot be ruled out.

He said that from June 11 to June 14, the weather is likely to remain partly to generally cloudy, with light rain, brief intense showers, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds expected at scattered to many places across the Union Territory.

Mukhtar Ahmad warned of the possibility of thunderstorms, lightning, hailstorms and gusty winds with speeds of 40–50 kmph, gusting up to 60 kmph, accompanied by brief intense showers at isolated to scattered locations during the period.

He further cautioned that intense rainfall in parts of the Kashmir and Jammu divisions could trigger flash floods, mudslides and localised flooding in vulnerable areas between June 11 and June 14.

The MeT Department has advised residents, farmers and travellers to remain vigilant and follow official weather advisories and updates during the forecast period.
