The weather along the NHW is partially cloudy where as it is slightly raining in Qazigund sector. The commuters are advised to avoid travelling on the NHW during night hours as chances of occuring of sudden landslides/shooting at any place en-route cannot be ruled out. They shall also confirm status of the road from Traffic Control Units at Srinagar, Ramban and Jammu before starting  journey on the NHW.
As a result of occurring of landslides from time to time, the width of the NHW at different places  between Udhampur and Banihal is narrow and as such allowing two-way movement of all sort of traffic on the NHW is  not feasible.
Subject to fair weather/ good condition of the road and in order facilitate the passengers,  tourists/ emergency vehicles, movement of passenger vehicles on the NHW shall be allowed both ways viz. from  Jammu towards Srinagar and vice versa in a regulated manner.
The movement of load Carriers on the NHW shall be one way only  and tomorrow on 11.12.2017 movement of these vehicles shall be allowed from Srinagar towards Jammu  side in a very regulated manner. The  movement of Load Carriers (except trailers/multi-axle vehicles) shall be allowed  from Levdora, Qazigund from 0400 hours (depending upon weather/road condition) and all these vehicles shall cross Jawahar Tunnel by 1000 hours positively.
No movement of Load Carriers and convoys of Army, BSF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB etc. shall be allowed from Jammu towards Srinagar side on 11.12.2017 under any circumstances in order to ensure hassle free movement of traffic on the NHW.
Commuters are requested/advised that vehicles are not parked in any landslide/ vulnerable  zone of NHW, especially from Jawahar Tunnel – Ramban under any circumstances.  The said road stretch is vulnerable/slide prone zone and therefore should be kept free from all sorts of traffic to avoid any eventuality.
People are requested to undertake journey on the National Highway after confirming the status from TCUs as the chances of occurring  of sudden land slides on the NHW cannot be ruled out. They shall contact TCU Srinagar (01942450022, 2485396), TCU Ramban (9419993745) and TCU Jammu (01912459048,  9419147732)  to get the status of the road  before starting their journey. They shall also contact Traffic Police officers viz. IGP Traffic J&K (9419192362); SSP Traffic, Rural Kashmir (9419091281);   SSP Traffic NHW (9419248811); Dy.SsP  Traffic Udhampur/Reasi (9419013015); Ramban (9419185925); Banihal (9419233978) and Dy.SP  Traffic, Kulgam/Qazigund (9796959260) in case of any assistance en-route.
Mughal Road through for traffic. Tomorrow on 11.12.2017, movement of LMVs  from either sides shall be allowed from 1000 hours upto 1500 hours only after assessing weather and road condition. However,  movement of HMVs (upto six tyre empty trucks only) shall be one way  and  movement of these vehicles shall be allowed from Bafliaz towards Shopian side in a regulated manner from 1000 hours upto 1500 hours only. No movement of traffic shall be allowed during night hours and early morning hours keeping slippery condition of the road in view.
