A Sub-Inspector of the Traffic Police was critically injured after being hit by a motorcycle near the ATM crossing at Iqbal Park, close to Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar, on Thursday afternoon.

Official sources said the accident occurred around 2:05 p.m. when the officer, identified as SI Javid Ahmad, was hit by a motorcycle bearing registration number JK01AS-2296. The motorcycle was being ridden by Mohammad Aamir Bhat (21), son of Tajuddin Bhat, a resident of Gousia Colony, Bagh-e-Mehtab, Srinagar.

The injured officer sustained severe head injuries and was immediately rushed to SMHS Hospital, Srinagar, where his condition is stated to be critical.

In this connection, FIR No. 43/2025 has been registered under Sections 281 and 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Police Station Shergarhi.

Police said further investigation into the incident is underway.
