MUSHTAQ HURRA
Nestled in the lap of Bandipora, Hajin is more than a township. It is a living tradition of learning and literature. Known as “ The Bidayu’n of Kashmir ”, it has nurtured minds that have illuminated the valley for decades. From this sacred soil have emerged eminent teachers, poets, authors, and thinkers – jewels who, through sheer hard work and talent, have brought laurels to Kashmir. For decades, it has been a beacon of learning in the Kashmir valley. Hajin stands tall at the forefront of the valley’s literary index, a constellation where every star shines to guide, inspire, and glorify the land.

From Wahab Parray Hajini to Aziz Hajini, literary township of Hajin has been blessed to be the abode of timeless icons. The crown of this township grows richer with every passing year, as new jewels are added to its heritage. If Wahab Parray Hajini lights up the sky like the sun, then a constellation of stars follows, each adding grace and elegance to its horizon. And among them glows a star whose dazzling journey speaks of hard work, passion, and devotion to knowledge. His love for books and learning has earned him a place of his own. This proud son of Hajinis known to us all as Majeed Majazi.
After almost three decades of dedicated service, Majeed Majazi has now attained superannuation from the School Education Department. Yet to call him just a teacher would be to tell only half the story. He is a playwright, performer, anchor, writer, voice artist, linguist, poet, storyteller, and scholar – a rare blend of talent and intellect. Majeed Majazi is not merely an educator. He is a multi-faceted torchbearer who has drawn new benchmarks of excellence for his pupils and admirers to follow.
Majeed Majazi’s pen and voice have reshaped the way Urdu and Kashmiri textbooks are taught in our schools. His work in renovating and innovating JKBOSE textbooks has left a lasting imprint on classrooms across the Valley. When the pandemic silenced school corridors for two long years, he became a beacon of hope. With dozens of radio lessons, his voice traveled into thousands of homes, turning airwaves into classrooms. Endowed with a magnetic voice that commands attention, he doesn’t just teach – he enchants, engages, and inspires every student who listens.
His ascent on the educational and literary horizon of the Kashmir Valley is a testament to his innate talent and refined expertise in the field of education. He has been a guiding light for hundreds of students, showing them the way to excellence. His influence is deeply etched upon the educational fabric of the Valley. Like a sculptor who transforms stones into art, he shapes young minds with care and vision – leading every aspirant from potential to brilliance.
Majeed Majazi’s brilliance extends far beyond the classroom. He is a poet, storyteller, and voice of the Valley. His short story collection for children “ Phulai Gulan Henz ” won the coveted Sahitya Akademi Bal Puraskar in 2021 – a proud moment for Kashmir. His science dramas have won him acclaim and admiration nationwide, while his plays aired on Radio Kashmir Srinagar have made him a household name. Whether on stage or behind the mic, as an anchor and moderator, he is a cherished presence at nearly every literary gathering across the Valley.
The story of Majeed Majazi is too vast to be contained in the lines of a newspaper column. What endears him most to me is not just his academic brilliance or literary prowess, but the sweetness of his heart and the humility of his soul. He is as kind as he is learned, and as down-to-earth as he is distinguished. Not a shred of arrogance clouds his persona. May Allah SWT bless him with health, longevity, and prosperity ! May his charm and wisdom continues to light our way for years to come !
