Srinagar, June 24 : A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) man was killed and another injured after militants attacked their vehicle in Pantha Chowk area of Srinagar – summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir.
An official said that two troopers were injured after militants opened indiscriminate fire on their vehicle.
“One of the injured troopers succumbed to his injuries,” he said.
He said that contingents of police, CRPF and army cordoned off the area to nab the attackers.
Militant outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba while claiming the responsibility of the this attack told news agency CNS that at least three troopers were killed in the onslaught.
Dr Abdullah Ghazavi, Spokesman LeT said that during the attack that was carried out on Srinagar-Jammu highway three troopers were killed and several wounded in the attack. (CNS)
