At least two militants were killed in an ongoing gunfight with government forces on Saturday in forest area of Tral in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir, police sources said.
An official said that a gunfight erupted after forces cordoned off Gujar Basti in Wantiwen forests of Satura village.
He said that two to three militants have been killed during the firefight with Army’s 42 RR and Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police so far.
He said that the militants, who were yet to be identified, belonged to Jaish-e-Muhammad outfit.
The official said that at least five more militants are believed to be hiding in the area.
He said helicopters and para commandos have been pressed into service to neutralise the rest of the hiding militants.
