Srinagar, June 22 : A 65-year-old woman died after receiving an electric shock in the Naid Kadal area of Srinagar on Monday, officials said.

An official told the news agency that the woman came into contact with a live electric current after touching an electric pole during heavy rainfall in the area.

He said she sustained critical injuries and was immediately shifted to a hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.

The deceased has been identified as Shamima Makhdoomi (65), wife of Ghulam Nabi and a resident of Naid Kadal.

Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated further investigation. More details are awaited.
