April 13, 2025, Srinagar — The Well Wishers Educational Empowerment Initiative (WEEI), in collaboration with Kashmir Pen and Jay Kay Books, successfully conducted a one-day workshop titled “From Social Media to Social Change: Using Technology for a Better Tomorrow” at the Kashmir Pen office, Srinagar. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and youth representatives of Foundation World School and Women’s College.

The workshop aimed to empower young minds with the knowledge and tools to channel the power of social media and digital platforms into instruments of constructive change. The interactive session was inaugurated with a presentation by renowned writer and speaker Mr. Mushtaque Barq, who laid the groundwork for the day through a thought-provoking presentation. His session was followed by group discussions, where participants actively contributed valuable ideas, engaged in reflective dialogue, and worked on guided worksheets that later formed the basis for drafting a collective resolution document.

Prominent speaker and social educator Mr. Mukhtar Kanth added depth to the discussions with his analytical insights and encouraged the youth to become catalysts for positive transformation in society. His session emphasized responsible digital engagement and the significance of ethical advocacy through online platforms.

The workshop reached its peak with the reading of resolution documents by group leaders under the supervision of Dr. Satish Vimal, the Chief Observer, and Advocate Asrar Ali, who provided legal and academic perspectives to the discourse. These documents will serve as a foundational reference for ongoing research on youth-driven digital advocacy and civic engagement.

Among the dignitaries present were Mr. Sheikh Mohammad Waseem, Mr. Arshid Dar, and Mr. Mushtaq Bala, who appreciated the initiative and expressed their support for such impactful youth-centered programs.

The event was meticulously coordinated by Ms. Sadaf, who ensured all logistical and academic requirements of the workshop were met, allowing participants to fully immerse in the experience.

In his address, Dr. Satish Vimal commended the vibrant contributions of the young participants and applauded the efforts of WEEI, Kashmir Pen, and Jay Kay Books for fostering a platform dedicated to educational empowerment and social consciousness.

As a token of appreciation, all participants were felicitated with certificates and books. The collected resolution documents will be reviewed and potentially published as part of a larger research initiative focused on digital civic engagement among youth. The entire event was comprehensively covered by Mr. Haamid Bala, who ensured that the highlights, key moments, and voices of the participants were documented for broader public engagement.

The event marks a meaningful step in bridging technology and social responsibility, reminding everyone that social media, when used with purpose, can indeed become a powerful tool for shaping a better tomorrow.
