Srinagar, June 6: The 3rd Edition of the Chinar Book Festival 2026 is set to emerge as its biggest, most diverse, and inclusive edition yet, with a strong focus on fostering a vibrant reading culture and expanding educational opportunities for young people across Jammu and Kashmir.

Amit Wancho said that a highly productive meeting was held with Commissioner Secretary, School Education and Higher Education Department, J&K, Shri Ram Niwas Sharma, and Special Secretary, Higher Education, Shri Shafqat Iqbal, to discuss a shared vision for strengthening reading habits and promoting knowledge-based learning among students.

He said the festival is expected to witness participation from schools, colleges, educators, authors, and students from across the Union Territory, making it one of the largest literary and educational gatherings in the region.

According to Wancho, the Chinar Book Festival will go beyond being a celebration of books and literature. It will serve as a dynamic platform for the exchange of ideas, creativity, dialogue, innovation, and youth aspirations, encouraging meaningful engagement among learners and educators.

“Investing in reading today is investing in Jammu and Kashmir’s knowledge-driven future,” Wancho said, emphasizing the transformative role of books and education in shaping an informed and progressive society.

The festival is expected to feature a wide range of literary, educational, and cultural activities aimed at inspiring young minds and nurturing a lifelong love for reading.
