A meeting of the Anjuman–Srinagar Literary Forum, a collective platform of writers, poets, critics and literary activists working for the promotion and preservation of Kashmiri, Urdu and allied literary traditions, was held on Sunday at Hotel Burj in Khanyar area of Srinagar.

During the meeting, the participants deliberated in detail on the activities of the forum, formally adopted its constitution and held a threadbare discussion on future plans and programmes of the organisation.

The meeting was attended by members including Bashir Aarif, Imdad Saqi, Gh Hassan Ghamgeen, Bashir Buch, Mehraj-ud-Din Ahmad, Farooq Shabnum, Syed Abid Gowhar and Sahil Dar. Members presently outside the Valley—Mohd Zaman Azurdha, Rukhsana Jabeen, Shad Ramzan and Zareif Ahmad Zareif—also participated in the meeting through online mode and were taken fully into confidence during the deliberations.

The members paid rich tributes to noted literary figures Ab Ahad Farhad and Fayaz Dilbar, and expressed deep condolences over the demise of the brother of Rafeeq Ishbari. A moment of silence was observed, and prayers were offered for eternal peace to the departed souls.

The meeting was presided over by Imdad Saqi, who stressed the need for collective efforts to strengthen the forum and called for active promotion of literary and cultural activities across the region.
