Srinagar, Feb 14: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah inaugurated the annual AgriTech Mela ‘Gongul-2026’ at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Cabinet Minister Sakina Itoo, MLA Noorabad Javid Dar, and other leaders of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference.

The AgriTech Mela aims to promote modern farming techniques, agricultural innovation, and farmer–scientist interaction, providing a platform for showcasing new technologies, improved seeds, farm machinery, and sustainable practices to boost productivity and rural livelihoods in Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said such initiatives are vital for empowering farmers, strengthening the agri-economy, and encouraging youth to take up agriculture and allied sectors. He also reiterated the government’s commitment to support research, innovation, and market linkages for farmers.
