Hosts UT-Level Thang-Ta Championship for Youth

KATHUA, Jan 19 ; The Union Territory-level Inter-District Thang-Ta Tournament for boys concluded on Monday, with young martial artists from across Jammu and Kashmir showcasing their prowess at the Kathua Sports Stadium Indoor Complex.

Held in accordance with the Annual Activity Calendar of the Department of Youth Services and Sports, J&K, the event saw enthusiastic participation from athletes in ten districts.

An official told News Agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) that the championship was organized under the directives of Director General, Youth Services and Sports, Anuradha Gupta, JKAS, and the guidance of Joint Director, Jammu, Vinakshi Koul, JKAS.

Competitions were held in the traditional martial art of Thang-Ta across Under-14, Under-17, and Under-19 age categories.

“The event aims to promote our indigenous sports, encourage youth engagement in physical activity, and instill values of sportsmanship and cultural pride,” said District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Kathua, Sunil Singh Sambyal, who supervised the proceedings.

Medals were presented to the winners and runners-up by Zonal Physical Education Officer Pardeep Singh, accompanied by Activity Incharge Dharminder Singh and Parveen Singh Lakhanpuria.

UNDER-14

 40kg: Gold: Sadiq Fayaz (Ganderbal); Silver: Basil Bashir (Srinagar); Bronze: Suhaib Bilal (Kupwara), Jaideep Singh (Pulwama).
