SRINAGAR, Apr 27 : Intensifying the war against substance abuse, the IRP 21 Battalion has launched a major offensive under the ‘Nasha Mukt Abhiyaan’ in the twin districts of Baramulla and Bandipora, officials said on Sunday.
The high-stakes drive is part of the Union Territory’s ongoing 100-day public welfare blitzkrieg, being steered personally by Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha to pull the youth back from the brink of destruction, they added.
Deploying a aggressive multi-pronged strategy, the Battalion is saturating both districts with anti-drug messaging. Security personnel are distributing hard-hitting informational flyers at mobile vehicle check posts across vulnerable corridors, directly intercepting commuters to spread awareness.
In a bid to penetrate every household, the force has also strategically inserted awareness pamphlets into widely circulated newspapers across the Kashmir Valley, officials said.
The high-decibel campaign is laser-focused on warning the youth about the irreversible health and social damage caused by drugs, while urging local communities to act as the eyes and ears of the administration.
The UT administration has made it clear that the drug menace will be crushed through a lethal combination of iron-fisted enforcement and mass preventive outreach.
“This is a fight for our future,” an official spokesperson said, emphasising that the inclusion of this drive in the flagship 100-day campaign underscores the government’s top priority of public health and social stability.
The IRP 21 Battalion has issued a fervent appeal to parents, teachers, community leaders, and citizens to join the frontlines. Authorities have asked the public to immediately report any drug-related activities, stressing that community cooperation is non-negotiable in building a sustained movement towards a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir.
