Dozens of lawyers on Friday in Srinagar held a protest rally against the attempts to scrap Article 35-A of Indian constitution that provides special privileges for Jammu and Kashmir citizens.

The lawyers held a protest outside District Court Complex Mominabad Batamaloo to register protest against the attempts to abrogate Article 35-A.

Joint Resistance Leadership had asked lawyers to peacefully protest against scrapping of the article.

The protesters were carrying placards and banners with messages like, ‘Save Article 35-A, Save Your Identity.’

JRL comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik had on Wednesday asked the Kashmir bar association to hold peaceful protest demonstration against “conspiracies” to scrap the state subject law.

“District bar associations will also hold protests at their respective places on the same day,” they had said, in a joint statement.
