Bandipora, July 16: Mourners raise pro-freedom slogans during slain cop’s funeral in North Kashmir
Mourners participating in the last rites of a Bandipora policeman killed in an alleged militant attack in Srinagar city raised massive anti-India and pro-freedom slogans.
A policeman identified as constable Shahzad Ahmed Sofi, 30, son of Late Dilwar Ahmad of Lonepora Ashtengoo (Belt No. 666) of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district was killed and his associate Manzoor Ahmed was injured when suspected militants attacked a police party at Hyderpora in uptown Srinagar on Thursday evening.
The slain cop was laid to rest in presence of large number of people at his native graveyard. Witnesses said that hundreds of people who participated in the funeral prayers raised pro-freedom and anti-India slogans during the funeral, they said.
