Sopore, Apr 9 : Sopore Police on Thursday destroyed a huge cache of seized narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances through incineration at the approved facility in Lassipora, Pulwama.
The operation was carried out in compliance with the directions of the Hon’ble Special Court (NDPS), Baramulla, officials said.
The contraband, which was destroyed strictly under the provisions of the NDPS Act and Rules, pertained to multiple cases registered across various police stations in Police District Sopore. Authorities ensured that all legal formalities were duly observed during the disposal process.
To maintain transparency, the destruction was conducted in the presence of an Executive Magistrate, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) from the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), DySP from the Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK), the Incharge of the Contraband Godown Sopore, and a team of Sopore Police.
The action reaffirms the district police’s firm commitment to eliminating the narcotics menace from the region, an official said, adding that the lawful disposal of seized substances remains a priority for the force the statement further reads. (KNS)
