Kupwara, Apr 9 : An 18-year-old was killed in a tragic road accident involving a hit-and-run and a subsequent collision in the Tikker area of Kupwara on Thursday, officials said.

Officials told news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, The deceased has been identified as Zeya Abroo Waza, son of Khursheed Ahmad Waza, a resident of Zurhama Trehgam.

He was riding a motorcycle from Zurhama towards Kupwara when, upon reaching Tikker, his vehicle collided with an unknown WagonR car, which fled the spot.

They said that after the initial collision, the rider fell onto the road and was subsequently hit by another vehicle, a load carrier, resulting in critical injuries.

He was immediately shifted by locals to Sub-District Hospital Kupwara, where doctors declared him brought dead.

The body has been kept at SDH Kupwara for medico-legal formalities, while further investigation has been taken up.

Cognizance of the incident has been taken and further investigation initiated. (KNC)
