Srinagar, April 9: The University of Kashmir (KU), through its Department of Biochemistry, is set to host the 45th Annual Meeting of the Indian Association for Cancer Research (IACR), alongside an international conference titled “Advancements in Cancer Research: Discoveries, Therapeutics and Challenges.”
The four-day event will take place from April 10 to 13 at the Convocation Complex, Main Campus, and is expected to bring together leading scientists, clinicians, and researchers from across India and abroad.
Participants from premier institutions such as AIIMS, IISc Bengaluru, and IITs, along with globally reputed universities including Mayo Clinic, Emory University, and Harvard University, are likely to attend the conference.
The programme aims to cover the full spectrum of cancer research—from understanding disease mechanisms to exploring innovative therapeutic interventions and addressing emerging clinical challenges.
Vice-Chancellor KU, Prof Nilofar Khan, stated that hosting this prestigious scientific gathering reflects the University’s commitment to addressing pressing health concerns through research and academic collaboration. She noted that the event will serve as a platform to bridge local research initiatives with global scientific advancements in cancer studies.
Prof Khan further emphasized that the conference will strengthen academic partnerships, promote interdisciplinary research, and provide valuable exposure to young scholars through direct engagement with experts at the forefront of cancer science.
The conference will feature keynote and plenary lectures by internationally acclaimed experts, along with thematic scientific sessions focusing on areas such as cancer immunotherapy, CAR-T cell therapy, genomics, DNA repair, tumour microenvironment, and chemoresistance.
Emerging domains, including AI-driven diagnostics and translational research, will also be highlighted, reflecting the evolving landscape of biomedical science.
Over the course of four days, sessions will also explore topics like cell cycle regulation, signal transduction, ubiquitin biology, and precision oncology. Dedicated oral and poster presentations will provide researchers and students an opportunity to showcase their work and engage in meaningful academic discussions.
By hosting the IACR annual meet, the University of Kashmir continues to expand its role in advancing biomedical research and fostering academic exchange at both national and international levels.
