Anantnag, Nov 8: A loco pilot sustained injuries after a train was struck by a bird in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Friday afternoon, officials said.
The incident occurred when a moving train on the Banihal–Baramulla rail route was hit by a large bird near the Sadura area of Anantnag. The impact reportedly shattered the front windshield of the engine, injuring the loco pilot.
Railway officials immediately halted the train, and the injured pilot was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. His condition is said to be stable.
Train services on the section were briefly suspended following the incident but later resumed after safety checks were conducted.
Authorities have initiated an inquiry into the incident to assess the extent of damage and to ensure safety measures are reinforced to prevent such occurrences in the future.
