Srinagar, Jan 3 (Kashmir Pen): The Registrar of the University of Kashmir, Professor Naseer Iqbal, on Friday flagged off the University’s cultural contingent for the 39th Inter-University Youth Festival (North Zone), being organised by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and hosted by Chitkara University, Chandigarh.

In a message on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor Professor Nilofer Khan extended her best wishes to the contingent, underscoring the importance of cultural engagement as an integral component of holistic education. She described national-level platforms such as the AIU Youth Festival as vital opportunities for students to showcase their talent while promoting Kashmir’s rich cultural heritage.
The contingent, comprising around 30 students and led by University Cultural Officer Dr. Shahid Ali Khan, will compete in a range of literary, fine arts, and music events, alongside students from leading universities across the North Zone.
Addressing the students, Registrar Professor Naseer Iqbal urged them to serve as cultural ambassadors of the University of Kashmir, advising them to uphold discipline, dignity, and excellence during the festival. Dean Students’ Welfare, Professor Pervez Ahmad, highlighted the role of youth festivals in nurturing creativity, teamwork, and fostering national integration among students from diverse regions.
